Controversial social media personality, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has reportedly lost her second son, Bryan, while she remains in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos.
The heartbreaking development was announced by Amira Agiye, CEO of the Isaamira Love Foundation, who is now appealing for financial assistance to help secure Blessing CEO’s release so she can return home and pay her final respects to her son.
According to Agiye, Bryan’s remains are currently in a mortuary while his mother remains behind bars, unable to meet the conditions attached to her bail.
The development has added a deeply painful twist to the legal troubles that have kept the controversial influencer in custody for more than two months.
In a voice recording played by Agiye, Blessing CEO herself confirmed the death of her son.
“My second son, Bryan, was full of life. While in custody, I lost Bryan,” she was heard saying.
She added that she hoped to secure her freedom, pick up the pieces of her life and pay her respects to her late son.
Blessing CEO has been in custody since June after she was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged ₦69.15 million property fraud case.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In July, the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja granted her bail in the sum of ₦20 million, with two sureties required to provide similar amounts and meet additional conditions.
However, she has remained in custody after reportedly struggling to perfect the bail conditions.
The influencer is also facing other criminal proceedings, including a separate case involving an alleged ₦36 million fraud and another matter involving about ₦13 million.
She has pleaded not guilty in the cases, while the allegations remain before the courts.
Now, with the death of her son, attention has shifted to efforts to get her out of custody.
Agiye said Blessing CEO needs about ₦20 million to meet the bail requirements and another ₦36 million to settle debts allegedly connected to the cases that brought her before the courts.
She appealed to Nigerians to show compassion despite whatever opinions they may have about the influencer and the allegations against her.
Blessing CEO, who has built a huge social media following through her controversial relationship advice and outspoken personality, has had several brushes with controversy and the law.
Her latest ordeal has therefore brought a very different side of her public life into focus — a mother mourning the death of her son while still behind bars.
The circumstances surrounding Bryan’s death were not immediately disclosed in the reports announcing the tragedy.
For now, Blessing CEO’s immediate battle appears to be getting out of custody so she can return home and mourn her son.
