Former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has died at the age of 71.
Uduaghan reportedly died on the morning of Monday, October 19, 2026, according to reports citing a statement by his family.
The family announced his death in a statement signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the former governor.
The statement described Uduaghan as a beloved father, brother, uncle and patriarch whose passing had left an immeasurable void in the family.
Uduaghan, a medical doctor turned politician, governed Delta State from May 2007 to May 2015 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Before becoming governor, he served as Delta State Commissioner for Health and Secretary to the State Government.
His death comes months after reports of his demise circulated on social media in June, only for his family and the Delta State Government to dismiss them as false.
The latest reports, however, indicate that the former governor’s family has now confirmed his passing, throwing the state’s political community into mourning.
Further details surrounding his death were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
