Charles Nwankwo, a staff of Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, lost two of his three children within a week due to dire economic situation his family are.

Nwankwo, who is a highway manager, and earns N12,000 monthly, in the last four months is being owed the meagre sum by the Lagos State government.

In his squalid room that is always flooded whenever it rains, Nwankwo’s wife, Hanna(picturedtold The Nation of the family’s deplorable living condition and the death of their two children due to financial strait.

“My second son also took ill. I still can’t understand what happened to Ebubechukwu; I can’t really explain it. He was one year, going to two and not sick. You know as children, he and his brother were always together; they played together, did everything together and were indeed very close.

“So, when he saw his brother lying in the hospital bed lifeless, he pulled and called his name in desperation. When he didn’t respond, he started crying and we consoled him. Thereafter he just started behaving funny and strange and eventually died,” she told the newspaper.
