Borno State has come under the attack of cholera, with at least forty residents already suffered casualties due to the ravaging disease.

Report said the infectious disease infected over 3,000 persons in 139 communities across seven local government areas of the state.

Official account stated that places hit by the killer disease include: Maiduguri, Jere, Mafa, Konduga, Monguno, Ngala and Magumeri.

The figure which covers period between 1st to 28th of May, 2026, however, is believed to be higher due to claim that reasonable number of patients are dying at homes instead of hospitals.

According to the data, the most affected part is Maiduguri metropolis, which accounts for more than half of the total burden.

Against this backdrop, the state government has issued a health advisory, warning residents to maintain clean environments.

The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Dr Saleh Abba-Kaza in the statement urged residents to take preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease.
