Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo said his 83rd birthday programme did not go as plan on account of the outbreak of Coronavirus.

Ogun State where Obasanjo hails from recorded one index case of the virus courtesy an Italian who was at giant cement company, Lafarge plant at Ewekoro.

The former President said his plan was to have a three-day celebration during which a public lecture on how some Asian countries, who were either at par or below Nigeria in the area of economy in the past left the country behind.

He said due to the outbreak of Coronavirus he was left with no choice than to compress the programmes and shelved some of it.

“We would have spent the day before yesterday and yesterday to really consider how the Asians have risen to greatness.

“And what lessons we could learn from them but because of Coronavirus, that programme was shelved. Some of them were not able to make it,” Punchng.com quoted the octogenarian as saying.
