Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, said the index case in Coronavirus matter in Nigeria, an Italian, is on the road to recovery and may soon be discharged.

Abiodun disclosed this when the management team of Lafarge Africa Plc led by its Country Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khaleed El Dokani, paid him a courtesy visit at his office, a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kunle Somorin, said.

According to Somorin, the governor said the index case, who was transferred from the state to a medical facility in neighbouring Lagos State, has fully recovered.

He said: “He (the Italian national) is in good condition and would be discharged soon.” Abiodun said government would continue to regard the virus as a serious threat that deserves special attention, considering the state’s status as the nation’s industrial hub, with large number of expatriates. “For us, the virus is a serious one and an issue that is on the front burner.

“We will not lower our guard, particularly due to the fact that we have large number of industries and expatriates here.

“We are enjoying lot of supports from the World Health Organisation and the National Centre for Disease Control. We are going ahead to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.”
