A medical doctor, Ayodele Joseph, is facing prosecution for sedating a female patient and in the near unconscious state raped her.
Joseph, according to himself, has been in medicine practice in the last twenty-seven years, and is the Chief Medical Director of Ayodele Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The purported rape happened in the said hospital, with the accused on Wednesday arraigned on a two-count charge of act of gross indecency, and rape, contrary to sections 285 and 283 of the penal code.
The court heard from the Prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, that the victim, a nurse, was in the hospital for medical treatment and in the course, Dr Ayodele sedated her and had carnal knowledge of her.
Ayeni’s prayer to Magistrate Gbadeyan Jumoke Kamson to remand the accused succeded while the case was adjourned to May 18th, 2023.
