The Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) Managing Director, Usman Mohammed, is reportedly dogged by claims of anti-labour practice, fraudulence and highhandedness.
Mohammed’s accusers are electricity workers, under the auspices of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC).
In protest yesterday at Abuja, they demand TCN boss sack sack and threatened to shut down power if their demand was not met, The Nation reported.
According to the paper, the protesters listed Mohammed’s alleged sins as including defaulting in remitting taxes to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), hijacking some funds provided by the World Bank for projects in the power sector, and clearing a large consignment of electrical materials from foreign donors at the ports but failed to deliver same to the warehouse of the organisation for proper accountability, before distribution to the relevant sections.
