A former secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has left the All Progressives Congress.
Lawal was the SGF during ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term.
He was sacked by Buhari for alleged corruption bordering on awarding N544m for grass cutting at Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs camps to Rholavision Engineering Ltd, a company he’s believed to be on the board.
Still facing prosecution at the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Lawal on Monday announced his resignation from APC.
This he did via a letter dated June 29, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of APC in Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The letter partly read, ”I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the All Progressive Congress.
“In due course, I will make public my current political affiliations where I plan to join other compatriots to work towards making Nigeria a better living place for all its citizens.
“This resignation takes immediate effect.
“Please, remain blessed and extend my warm regards to other members of your party.”
A member of the ongoing political coalition against President Bola Tinubu, it’s believed that he’s joining the African Democratic Congress, ADC, which has become the party of choice for those seriously adverse to Tinubu’s reelection.
