Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on female Education, Hajiya Aishat Maina, is dead.
Maina met her death at the campaign ground in Giginya Stadium, during the rally of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Sokoto state on Tuesday.
The mother-of-three was caught up in a stampede that occurred while the crowd were exiting the stadium.
Sources acquainted with the genesis of the stampede, said it happened that a motorcyclist fell off his bike at the stadium exit gate causing many to trip and fall over themselves.
The rescue that came the way of the former chairperson of the National Woman Journalists Association of Nigeria (NAWOJ), Sokoto state chapter, could not prevent the worst from happening.
She was rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital where she passed away.
