Indication has emerged that the new government in Akwa-Ibom State is not well-disposed to funding lavish lifestyle after the governor, Gov. Udom Emmanuel abandoned the private jet bought by his predecessor, Senator Godswill Akpabio for chartered jet.
Senator Godswill Akpabio had in 2012, then governor of the state, bought $45 million jet for himself on behalf of the state using it to gallivanting.
However, Gov. Udom Emmanuel has demonstrated his reservation for the white elephant acquisition after refusing to fly it since his emergence as Akwa-Ibom State governor.
Rather, inside source told OrijoReporter that Gov. Udom Emmanuel has been flying chartered jet owing to its economic benefit, and has mooted the idea of putting the state-owned jet up for sale.
