Odumosu alleged this at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, during a press briefing where he gave a lowdown on the activities of the police in the state amid coronavirus outbreak.

The state government had ordered compulsory use of face masks among others for occupants of commercial vehicles.

The CP said the drivers and conductors in order to adhere to the rule are fond of offering face masks to passengers without one, take it back when they alight and reserve it for other commuters in similar case.

He added that commercial vehicle operators needed education on COVID-19 transmission calling on the leadership to educate them just as he threatened offenders with prosecution.

According to him: “We urge the leadership of the various unions to educate their members. Anyone arrested in the act would not be spared. The driver would be prosecuted along with his conductor while the vehicle would be impounded.”
