Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has declared that she never begs for support, insisting that she only works with whatever God provides.
Speaking on Friday at the State House, Abuja, while hosting leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Wing, Mrs Tinubu urged young Nigerians to shun greed, embrace hard work and be content with what they have.
The First Lady also handed over brand-new buses to the APC youth leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Explaining where the vehicles came from, she said they were donated by well-meaning Nigerians who believe in her programmes, adding that she chose to pass the gifts on to the party’s youth wing instead of keeping them.
“In this office, I don’t beg. God told me not to beg. It is whatever He provides that I work with and I am teaching you how to learn contentment and not be beggarly,” she declared.
Mrs Tinubu praised the youth leaders for never pressuring her office for favours, saying their attitude impressed her.
“You have done well because you have never made such requests from my office. I am delighted because you need the buses to work,” she said.
She also warned young Nigerians against chasing quick riches, insisting that genuine success comes through patience, honesty and hard work.
“There is no food for lazy persons,” she said.
Urging the youths to stay focused, the First Lady pointed to the eagle as a symbol of courage and resilience, encouraging them to rise above life’s storms instead of envying others.
“You have to have the eagle’s mentality. When the eagle sees the storm, it laughs at it and sees how it can fly above it… You should always look for your own path and not because that person has it, I want it,” she said.
