Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed the shocking moment he nearly broke down after a woman secretly snapped a photo of him asleep and sent it viral, just weeks after he became famous.

The singer, born David Adeleke, said the humiliating incident happened barely two months after his breakout songs turned him into one of Nigeria’s hottest new stars.

Davido made the emotional revelation during an interview titled “Davido Joins The Vibe Q,” published on the official VIBE Magazine YouTube channel on Thursday.

Recalling his meteoric rise, the singer said he had only two hit songs when he landed a performance in Ghana.

“I have like one song, I have like two records, but these are like the biggest records ever,” he said.

What greeted him at the airport left him stunned.

“Yo, it’s like Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber type. So I’m like, yo, we lit,” Davido recalled, saying he had been an ordinary person just weeks earlier.

Everything seemed to be falling into place.

His music was climbing the charts, fans were everywhere, and women suddenly couldn’t get enough of him.

“Every week is just something new… I’m blowing up every week.”

“I’m excited. I’m like, yo, these girls actually love me.”»

But the dream trip soon turned into a nightmare.

Davido said he met his first-ever groupie during a night out in Ghana and spent the night with her, unaware that trouble was waiting the next morning.

“It was my first groupie… that was like my first rodeo… it was just a great night.”

He said he was still asleep when his manager burst into his hotel room.

“He was like, ‘Open the door… calm down.'”

Then came the bombshell.

According to Davido, the woman secretly took a picture of him while he slept after her friends refused to believe she was with the fast-rising star.

“Apparently she was telling people, ‘Oh, I’m with Davido.’ They’re like, ‘No, you’re lying.’ And then she took the picture.”

Within hours, the photo had spread, and his phone wouldn’t stop ringing.

“My daddy was calling me. My sisters were calling me.”

The singer admitted the scandal hit him so hard that he completely lost it.

“If I saw balcony that day, I would have jumped. I was going crazy.”

Looking back, Davido said the painful experience became a wake-up call.

He admitted he was young, loved women “too much,” and believes God used the incident to teach him a life-changing lesson.

“I was young and I liked women too much. God had to show me… God had to show me at the time.”

Now older and wiser, the Afrobeats star says young celebrities must be extremely careful because fame makes them easy targets.

“You’re young, you’re famous, you’re a target. Even if you want to have fun, take their phones.”
