Lagos hospitality scene has received a major boost following the grand opening of ibis Lagos Lekki, a new 120-room hotel owned by renowned entrepreneur and Chairman of HDV Nigeria Limited, Otunba Olufemi Okenla.

The new hospitality destination, located in the Lekki axis of Lagos, was officially unveiled on August 14 amid pomp, pageantry and celebration, attracting prominent personalities, business associates, friends and well-wishers.

The opening marks another major milestone in the entrepreneurial journey of Okenla, who has continued to expand his footprint in Nigeria’s hospitality industry.

Okenla, who also owns ibis Ikeja, has positioned the new ibis Lagos Lekki as another premium destination for business travellers, tourists and other guests seeking comfort and modern hospitality services in one of Lagos’ fastest-growing areas.

The hotel was officially declared open on behalf of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, by the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs Ambimbola Salu-Hundeyin.

The ceremony also attracted the spiritual father of Okenla, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo of KICC International, who offered special prayers and formally blessed the new facility. He was assisted by Pastor Femi Faseru, also of KICC International.

120 Rooms, Swimming Pool, Modern Facilities

Ibis Lagos Lekki boasts 120 soundproof rooms, designed to provide guests with comfort, privacy and a serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of Lagos.

The hotel also features a swimming pool located on the fourth floor, alongside other modern facilities aimed at delivering a memorable experience for guests.

The opening further reinforces Okenla’s growing reputation as one of the entrepreneurs making significant investments in Nigeria’s hospitality sector.

Speaking at the event, Okenla also highlighted the challenges facing indigenous businesses, particularly access to funding.

He said the ability to drive sustainable private-sector investment would depend partly on creating funding conditions that give businesses sufficient time to develop and execute their projects.

According to him, the current funding system in Nigeria remains unfavourable to indigenous entrepreneurs and continues to make it difficult for local businesses to grow.

He stressed that improving the financing environment would help businesses survive, expand and contribute more meaningfully to the Nigerian economy.

With the launch of ibis Lagos Lekki, Okenla has once again demonstrated his commitment to entrepreneurship, hospitality and private-sector investment, adding another major achievement to his growing business portfolio.
