Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has cried out over a disturbing social media death hoax, declaring that she is alive, healthy and safe.
The actress was forced to personally address the rumour on Sunday after reports claiming that she had died in an accident began making the rounds online.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Kadiri dismissed the reports as completely false and made it clear that she had not been involved in any accident.
She also appealed to her fans not to believe or share unverified reports about her.
The actress reportedly became particularly concerned after discovering that several social media accounts were being used to circulate the death claim.
One report said she woke up to find about seven or eight accounts pushing the story.
Rather than amplify the false reports, Kadiri urged her followers to report any account or page carrying the rumour.
She expressed sadness that some people could go as far as spreading reports of another person’s death and urged those behind the posts to leave her alone.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing problem of celebrity death hoaxes on social media, where sensational claims can spread rapidly before their authenticity is established.
Kadiri’s clarification also comes as she remains active professionally and continues to promote her latest project, Once Upon a Village.
The filmmaker recently released the fifth episode of the series on her digital platform, RuthKadiri247, featuring actors including Henrietta Ibekwe and Deza The Great.
With a large online following, Kadiri has increasingly used digital platforms to release original Nollywood productions, keeping her audience engaged directly through films, series and behind-the-scenes content.
