Justice Safiyanu Muhammad Dabi of the Upper Shari’a Court, Birnin Kudu has been sacked for collecting N50,000 bribe from a litigant.
Dabi’s employer, the Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission, announced his dismissal by a statement its Director of Publicity and Protocol Matters, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, released on Saturday.
In it, it was said, the disgraced judge(pictured) got the sum in bribe when a litigant appeared before him while he was in Upper Shari’a Court, Birnin Kudu.
The Director stated that the issue came up at the 170th meeting of the Judicial Service Commission where the decision to sack him was reached.
He added the commission would not bear any act of indiscipline from its workers, urging them to shun corruption.
“The Commission, however, warned staff in the judicial arm to shun all forms of corruption and bribery in the state.
“The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to dealing with any staff found wanting in the discharge of their official assignment,” the statement read in part.
