Justice Faruku Bunza of Kebbi State High Court has been kidnapped.
Justice Faruku Bunza was abducted on Sunday at his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
His abduction by gun-bearing bandits occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
Security agencies have launched a coordinated rescue operation and are intensifying efforts to secure the judge’s release.
Family sources told newsmen that the incident happened not long after Justice Bunza returned to his residence along Zogirma Road from Sokoto State.
The armed men while invading his residence, according to the account were shouting to get attention from residents in the area.
Despite the commotion, they succeeded in abducting the judge without inflicting physical harm on other occupants of the house or neighbouring residents, sources said.
“I can confirm that Hon. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza was abducted from his residence in Bunza around midnight.
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately deployed tactical and intelligence operatives to ensure his safe rescue,” Police Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman also told newsmen.
