The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has urged the federal government to set its leader, Nnamdi Kanu free, saying the step would emplace peace in Southeast.
The latter has been a theatre of violence, prompted by significant agitation for secession by some persons of Igbo extraction.
The latest of the deadly violence, is the killing of five soldiers by unknown gunmen, with the vile action linked to IPOB.
The secessionists’ group immediately denied the charge.
In a statement its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful released on Saturday, it said the recurring violence would give way to peace if Kanu is freed.
Powerful asserted this, saying, “IPOB demands Kanu’s release to bring peace to the region.”
