The fire incident and the rubble that followed killed the school principal, Rev. Sr. Henritta Alokha, another reverend sister and a security guard working with the institution.

About fifty pupils were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Alokha reportedly died in her bid to rescue pupils trapped in the school building rubble.

The explosion started around 9am after a truck hit some gas cylinders in a gas processing plant located near the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s System 2B pipeline’s right of way, according to multiple accounts.
