The viral video of Chief Fredrick Nwajagu threatening to engage members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra in Lagos to checkmate the supposed ethnic violence against people of Southeast and the consequences that followed his outburst, has drawn the reaction of the State chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Chief Fredrick, the Eze of Ajao Estate, Lagos, lost his freedom to the threat at least temporarily; he was arrested early hours of Saturday at a hotel in Ejigbo area where he fled to from his palace on hearing of moves to arrest him, and has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, all in quick succession.

Hint that the embattled Chief would be charged with terrorism related offences was dropped by Lagos Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.

“Yes, he (Fredrick) has been arrested and is currently in the custody of the DSS. They are in charge of anything associated with terrorism,” Hundeyin told Punchng.

Also, indication that Chief Fredrick would stew in his own juice emerged, with the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide in Lagos distancing themselves from the comment, equally in an interview with Punchng.

Quoting the President of the socio-cultural group in the state, Chief Solomon Ogbonna-Aguene, the publication wrote; “He (Igbo leader) did not discuss his statement with any of us. The comments are his personal decisions and for his personal interests. Ohanaeze does not support such comment as its views.

“There are some comments that should not be heard from us as a socio-cultural organisation. We are supposed to be apolitical.

“We are not in support of what Chief Fredrick said. For him to mention that he is going to bring IPOB to Lagos is completely unnecessary. No Igbo person will support such arrangement. So, he is the one that will answer for himself. Let him go and face the music.”
