The Lagos State Government has announced its closure of the Oshodi Resettlement Market in Oshodi on grounds that traders attacked officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as KAI, during an enforcement operation.
The market closure was made public by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on X on Tuesday.
Wahab said the market was shut due to an altercation between traders and personnel of the enforcement agency during an operation aimed at arresting hoodlums and beggars in the area.
“Oshodi Resettlement Market, Oshodi has been shut down,” Wahab wrote.
Citing reason for the closure: “Traders at the market attacked officers and personnel of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, prevented them from arresting hoodlums and beggars who vandalised the agency’s operational vehicles during an enforcement operation earlier today.”
