Bernard Udemezue, a member of Anambra State House of Assembly has been suspended.
Udemezue represents Ayamelum Constituency.
His suspension for three months stemmed from a message and content he shared on social media, which the House deemed as damaging content.
In the post, the lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party alleged that his constituency, Ayamelum, is marginalised in the area of constituency allowance.
Consequently, the post provoked reaction from the House last Tuesday at its plenary where lawmakers passed resolution to summon Udemezue following a matter of urgent public importance moved by the member representing Aguata 2 Constituency, Tony Muobike, and seconded by the Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala 1 Constituency, Jude Ngobili.
The matter was referred to the House Committee on Rules, Businesses, Ethics and Privileges with the mandate to report back to the House on Tuesday (this week).
At today’s plenary, the House passed the resolution to suspend the lawmaker for three months.
