President Bola Tinubu has said that Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar’s death in the custody of terrorists, is the worst the latter could do.

Recall that the deceased and his wife were travelling to Katsina when their car was attacked by bandits who injured the driver and took the couple into custody.

The couple had in a video echoed the conditions their abductors gave for their release, pleading to government to accede to it.

On Saturday news emerged that Rabe, a former military spokesman, has died in the custody of the bandits.

Reacting to the melancholy event, the President expressed shock saying the bandits have done their worst and nothing would make him negotiate with their likes.

The statement were attributed to Tinubu by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga through an official statement the latter released.

“While the terrorists have done their worst, they should know that the government will never bow to their demand to release their members held by our security agencies,” it read partly.

Continued: “As I said on June 12, bandits, kidnappers and sponsors of terror should now surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian state.

“These windows of surrender will not remain open forever, and no mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians.

“Gen. Abubakar’s death should further serve as a defining moment in our battle against terrorists and insurgents, never to negotiate with them on any terms, but to continue to treat them as the greatest enemies of our dear nation, who should never be spared.”
