A ministerial nominee, Abass Lawal Balarabe has slumped in the course of his screening by the Senate.

President Bola Tinubu had nominated Balarabe in place of ex-governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who was not confirmed by the Red Chamber on security grounds.

The Secretary to the State Government during el-Rufai’s time as Kaduna governor is among three nominees billed to face the Senate today.

The others are, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande.

The unexpected however happened as he slumped while standing at the podium after his introductory remarks.

This prompted the Senate President Godswill Akpabio to immediately called for a doctor to attend to him, and ordered those covering the session live with cameras to stay action.

Akpabio went on to direct the Senate to dissolve into an executive session.
