The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four men in two separate cases involving alleged grave-digging, missing human heads and suspected human hands reportedly intended for money-making rituals.
The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ilorin. In the first case, two suspects, identified as Abu Jimoh and Ayo Jimoh, were arrested over the alleged exhumation of graves and removal of human heads from a cemetery in Omupo, Kwara State.
The police said the incident came to light in May 2026 when residents visited the cemetery to bury a deceased person and discovered that some graves had been dug up, with the heads of the buried bodies missing.
According to Adekimi, intelligence-led investigations eventually led to the arrest of the two suspects at about 5am on October 8, 2026, while they were allegedly digging graves at the cemetery.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and identified a herbalist, Mukaila Bello, as the alleged buyer of the missing human heads.
The police, however, did not establish whether Bello had been arrested.
The command said investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would be arraigned upon their conclusion.
In a separate incident, police arrested two other men, Kamalden Lukmon and AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim, after allegedly recovering two suspected human hands from them along Bakase Road in Alapa.
The suspects were arrested at about 4pm on October 8, 2026.
The police said preliminary interrogation indicated that the men intended to use the suspected human parts for money-making rituals.
The suspects reportedly told investigators that a vigilante member, identified as Abdulraf Apata, had handed the body parts over to them.
The command said the allegation against Apata was being investigated to establish his alleged involvement and determine whether other persons were connected to the incident.
Lukmon and Ibrahim are being detained at the Violent Crimes Response Unit as investigations continue.
The police said investigators were also working to establish the identity of the possible victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the death linked to the case.
The command added that investigations into both incidents were ongoing.
