Twenty-year-old Enoch was killed on Saturday about 8pm along the Gwegwe-Navy Road at Ovom, in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Suspected cultists were reportedly behind the killing of Enoch who was admitted into the NDA two years ago.
Reports about his killing said the cadet was on the street chatting with his friend and a naval rating with the Central Naval Command when his killers snatched a bag from someone not far from where he was and fled.
He ran after them to recover the bag but unknown to him other members of the criminal gang had laid in ambush to ward off any rescue attempt and he was shot at a close range.
Bayelsa State Police Command in Bayelsa, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident saying that the police had arrested no fewer than 20 persons in connection with the killing.
Butswat said, “The community has condemned that act in totality and they have come out en masse to show their support for the police to arrest the suspects. We have arrested some persons during a routine operation that was carried out after Saviour was shot.
“About 20 persons have been arrested. I know that they have screened some of them. I do not know how many of them are linked directly to the killing. However, the community has volunteered useful information concerning the actual suspects.’’
