Four police men attached to the Lagos State Police Command, who took a million naira from three National Youth Service Corps members under duress are currently facing trial.
The video of the armed men harassing their victims in a car posted on social media earlier went viral.
In it, an officer is heard demanding the hard copy of the driver’s licence while another said to one of the Corp members that it’s an offence bordering on impersonation to wear only the NYSC cap and not the full regalia.
The officers ended up extorting N1m from the corpers at Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House, Area C Police Command where they dragged them to.
Speaking via his X handle, police spokesman in the state, Ben Hundeyin, said, “The men have been summoned, and their trial has commenced. We urge the complainants to visit the Complaint Response Unit at the state headquarters to testify at the ongoing trial.”
