Access Bank is facing fresh scrutiny after an Italy-based Nigerian woman, Oluwabunmi Dorcas, alleged that ₦5 million was withdrawn from her account without her knowledge.
Oluwabunmi Dorcas, another customer of the bank, made the allegation barely a month after a similar complaint by another account holder, Onyema Evelyn, who claimed ₦3 million was taken from her account.
In a video seen by Orijoreporter, Dorcas said she lost her phone and immediately informed her account officer because she could no longer receive transaction alerts.
She said she continued to fund the account and notified the officer each time money was transferred, with the transactions reportedly confirmed by the bank official.
According to her, the trouble began last Saturday when her account officer called to ask whether she had withdrawn ₦5 million.
Dorcas said she was shocked by the question and explained that she could not have made such a withdrawal because she did not even have an ATM card.
She said the officer subsequently informed her that ₦5 million had been withdrawn from the account and advised that the account be blocked while the transaction was investigated.
Dorcas claimed that after she granted access to the account through an email request, the names connected to the withdrawals became visible.
She, however, alleged that despite the information available on the account, bank officials told her there was nothing they could do.
The distraught woman has now appealed to Nigerians, specifically calling on VeryDarkMan, Oriyomi Hamzat and others to intervene.
“I’m calling on VeryDarkMan, Oriyomi Hamsat and other Nigerians to come to my rescue. Access Bank is killing me gradually,” she said.
Dorcas said she works in Italy under difficult conditions to earn a living and pleaded for assistance in recovering the money she claims was taken from her account.
The latest allegation has renewed attention on complaints by Access Bank customers over alleged unauthorised transactions.
There was no response from Access Bank included in the account presented by Dorcas.
