Dennis Aghanya, the petitioner that alleged Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, of non-full disclosure in the assets form he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau, said he received death threats and under intense pressure to withdraw the petition.

“Since this petition came to light, they have been sending friends and families to me and at the same time issuing threats. They are giving me two options: If I don’t accept, I would go down six feet. If I mention the amount they are offering, it is something a hungry man would accept, something they cannot resist, big money,  as much as a billion naira,” the Executive Secretary, Anti-Corruption and Research- Based Data Initiative told Punch.

Dennis, an ex-media aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, in his petition against Onnoghen, accused the embattled CJN of failing to declare five bank accounts with about $3m.

On the strength of the petition, the federal government dragged Onnoghen before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, an action that has been widely censured by the opposition parties with the Peoples Democratic Party leading the charge.
