Two police officers seen in viral video using Point of Sale, POS machine, for extortion in Delta State have been demoted.

Inspector Augustine Jeremiah and Corporal Miracle Ehirim of C Division, Asaba, were secretly filmed extorting money from motorists, with the video posted online where it generated wide interests.

The Delta State Police Command has come hard on both erring officers, as per the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

Edafe in a statement he released said Inspector Jeremiah and Corporal Ehirim faced summary trial and were found guilty as charged.

He explained that the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, upheld the trial findings on account of which Inspector Jeremiah was demoted to the rank of Sergeant, while Ehirim was demoted from Corporal to Constable.

The demoted officers were found guilty of “Disobedience to Lawful Order, Extortion and Discreditable Conduct,” contrary to the provisions of the Police Act, 2020.

They were captured in a viral video on January 13, 2026, receiving money from a motorist through a POS terminal within the station.
