The Chief Executive Officer of Yobe Microfinance Bank, Professor Sheriff Almuhajir, has been accused of causing the breakup of a marriage.
The accuser of Professor Sheriff Almuhajir is a journalist, Nura Distin, who alleged that the bank MD has been dating his wife before their union, claiming that on account of the illicit romance Almuhajir promoted her to branch manager position and caused the couple to separate.
Distin made this allegation via social media where he also accused the bank chief of using his influence to have him detained by the police and remanded in prison after he publicly exposed his love affair with his wife now ex.
To validate his statement, he provided alleged records of WhatsApp chats between his ex and the Almuhajir, which he later deleted.
He however said nothing would make him yield to pressure saying: “I was born to face fear, not to run from it. I face challenges with courage, and I strive to overcome them.
“I will never remain silent about anything that harms me. Just as money could not change my principles, neither will intimidation. No one should misuse the authority of the law to pressure someone into doing what they do not want to do. I will continue to stand by my convictions and pursue every matter through lawful and proper means.”
