In the quest to justify its dethronement of Muhammad Sanusi as Emir of Kano, the state government alleged that the deposed monarch was always having a run in with constituted authorities and allegedly bereft of the ideals of the traditional institution.

The spokesman to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, Mr. Salihu Yakasai in an interview with private radio station, Rave FM in Osogbo monitored by our correspondent said Sanusi on three occasions was issued queries by the administration of ex-gov Rabiu Kwankwaso over alleged infractions.
According to Yakasai, the former CBN governor was not accustomed to Kano tradition, saying he lived most parts of his life outside the state.
He said: “The position of Emir comes with its own restrictions which Sanusi didn’t take cognizance of Sanusi did not grow up in Kano State. He does not understand the traditional institution that he was occupying.
“Sanusi always goes to the gallery to talk about issues to get the applause. At the tail end of the administration of former governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso reintroduced ban of street begging and that time Sanusi was accommodating the Alimajiris in his palace, feeding them and on that particular issue, he was given four queries for disobeying him.”
In the same vein, Yakasai in another interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Tuesday said the deposed emir was too critical of Ganduje’s administration despite having access to the governor.
Sanusi was yesterday moved to Awe town from Loko, both in Nasarawa State where he has been banished to.
His lawyers at a press conference declared their readiness to contest his detention and banishment.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government on Tuesday appointed Sanusi into the board of the state investment promotion agency, according to a statement the state Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye, released.
