Senator Akon Eyakenyi has given family of couple her convoy killed N2m.
Eyakenyi, representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate also doubles as the Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa-Ibom State.
The Senator’s convoy hit a couple on a motorcycle along the Calabar-Itu Highway while she was returning to Uyo, the state capital from her campaign tour, causing their deaths.
Consequently, she gave N2m compensation to the family of the deceased who left three children behind.
The sum in some quarters in Akon-Itam community in Itu Local Government Area of the state where the deceased were based is generating controversy with many of the opinion that it is ridiculous.
