Senator Francis Fadahunsi has made a dramatic U-turn over the viral video in which he was allegedly heard ordering his supporters to kill members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, claiming the footage was generated by artificial intelligence.
The Osun East senator made the fresh claim during an interview on TVC News, days after the video sparked outrage and triggered calls for his arrest and prosecution.
Fadahunsi, who has been at the centre of the controversy since the footage surfaced online, specifically blamed Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and others for circulating what he described as a fake video.
“The viral video sent out by Davido and co is an AI something,” he said during the interview.
The senator’s claim adds a fresh twist to an already heated controversy that has dominated political discussions in Osun as the major parties intensify their campaigns ahead of Saturday’s election.
The video had gone viral on social media after Davido shared it, with an English translation alleging that Fadahunsi told his supporters to attack and kill Accord members whenever they encountered them.
The footage immediately triggered widespread condemnation, particularly because of the tense political atmosphere surrounding the election.
The controversy also prompted demands from the Accord Party and the campaign camp of Governor Ademola Adeleke for the senator to be arrested over the alleged inciting remarks.
Fadahunsi, however, has now rejected the authenticity of the viral footage, insisting that what Nigerians have been watching online is not a genuine recording of his statement but an AI-generated production.
His latest denial comes after an earlier clarification in which he said his controversial “kill Accord” remark was not a call for violence but a directive to defeat the party with votes at the ballot box.
With the senator now alleging that the video itself was fabricated using artificial intelligence, the controversy is set for another round of political fireworks as the August 15 election draws closer.
The development also raises fresh questions over the authenticity and origin of the video, even as political parties continue to trade accusations over alleged threats, incitement and attempts to manipulate voters ahead of the poll.
