A police sergeant, Ahmed Ali(pictured) has met his death at the hands of trigger-happy soldiers in the line of duty.

Ali’s killing occurred on Monday morning while on duty at a checkpoint in Benisheikh town in Borno State.

According to source’s account, attempts by the sergeant and his colleagues to gently stop an Acura jeep number FKJ 761 AR loaded with commercial Indian hemp had failed.

Subsequently, the refusal of the driver, a soldier, stirred the police into mobilising themselves, and on being within the vehicle’s sight shot at the tyre, forcing it to a halt.

It followed that the officers confisticated the vehicle, and were in the process of moving it to Benisheikh police station to the displeasure of Sgt U. Joseph and his own colleagues.

In the ensuing confrontation, report said Joseph shot at Ali, which led to his demise, and consequently the soldiers’ arrest.
