The late gospel singer ToluwaniSings was rushed to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, after suddenly slumping, but efforts to secure medical attention proved unsuccessful, his personal assistant, Babadunni Olayemi, has revealed.

The singer, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, sparking grief among his fans and members of the gospel music community.

According to his aide, the singer appeared healthy before he suddenly collapsed, prompting frantic efforts by those around him to revive him and get him emergency medical care.

Babadunni, speaking on Thursday, said he was not at the scene when the incident occurred but rushed there after receiving a distress call.

“I wasn’t here when it happened in the morning. They called me and I came,” he said.

He disclosed that the singer was taken from one hospital to another in Ibadan as his associates desperately sought medical attention, but several facilities allegedly failed to admit him.

Babadunni said some hospitals cited the unavailability of doctors because of an ongoing strike, while others reportedly gave different excuses.

“There was nothing wrong with him. He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped. They tried to resuscitate him. They went helter-skelter.

“They took him to some hospitals, but they were giving excuses. Some said doctors were not working because of the strike. Some did not admit him at all,” the aide said.

He added that they did everything possible, including prayers, as they moved from one medical facility to another in a desperate bid to save the singer.

“We took him to up to seven to eight hospitals in Ibadan, but God said his time was up,” he said.

The circumstances surrounding the reported hospital visits have raised questions about the difficulties the singer’s associates encountered while seeking emergency medical attention. However, the specific hospitals involved and the precise circumstances of the reported refusals were not disclosed.

Babadunni further revealed that the singer’s body had been deposited in a mortuary, while the family was expected to meet and decide on funeral arrangements and other necessary steps.

“The family members are here. So, we are all just managing the situation, as the body is currently at the mortuary. Once the family members hold their meeting and are clear on things, that is when we will know the next step to take,” he said.

ToluwaniSings was popular among gospel music lovers for songs including A Very Big God and Onibuore. Reports indicated that he had performed at a worship event on Tuesday, a day before his death.
