Ailing veteran actor and broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, popularly remembered by his teeming fans as Bitrus of the Cockcrow at Dawn fame, has urged his sympathisers against blackmailing people over his ill-health.

Daba who is battling both prostate cancer and leukemia spoke of the excruciating pain he has been going through, and his urgent need for financial supports from well-meaning Nigerians to save his life in an interview he granted New Telegraph.
“I have been in and out of hospitals for a while now. The biopsy was done on Friday, and I came back on Sunday. The doctors said the result of the biopsy will determine what next to be done, if I would need to do a major surgery. I was at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) that is where they are treating me for Leukemia.
“The pain is just too much for me. The other option is that I would have to take injections that would cost N150,000 every two months, and I have to take it for about two years. You can imagine what the total cost would be.”
The popular broadcaster, however, cautioned his sympathisers who may be aggrieved that he had not gotten the financial support he required at this critical time, saying ” Don’t turn my case into a circus show. anybody that wants to help should help. Please don’t blackmail or arm-twist people to help me, I beg you.
“To get help does not mean I have to arm-twist people or blackmail. Please I don’t want that. Many of my friends are there, Ben Murray Bruce and others.”
