The village head of Garin Majidadi in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, Muhammad Majidadi, and a councillor representing Kumo East in the same area, Abdullahi M. Panda, have been arrested on allegations of theft and sale of a community transformer.

The suspects and one Muhammad Sani of Sarkin Yaki Quartres were picked up for allegedly stealing and selling the transformer, property of the community.

This is according to the State police public relations officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi.

Abdullahi said a tip-off led the police to investigate the missing transformer, and among the discoveries was that it was sold to one Bello Ardo Kumo at N1.5m by the suspects.

In defence of their action, the Village head said the transformer had been in bad condition and disuse for ten years with more than half of its parts stolen by miscreants.

He also said he got the approval of the councillor to sell the transformer, a claim his fellow suspect denied.
