One Kayode Fatombi, a warder attached to the Kirikiri Custodial Centre, Lagos State, is currently in police net for assisting two kidnap and robbery suspects in detention to break jail.
The escapees, who have been re-arrested were originally arrested for alleged robbery and kidnap and on account arraigned before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.
All this is as per Punchng, stating that it was while they were in the court that Fatombi played a malignant pranks on his colleagues and police.
Under the guise of taking the suspects somewhere allowed them to escape in exchange for N1m bribe, the report said.
Adding that Manhunt that followed by the police, led to the suspects’ re-apprehension, and in the course of cross-questioning them they implicated the warder.
“The suspects were tracked and caught and they confessed that they gave him money to allow them to escape. The inmates confessed that they paid him N500,000 each,” the publication quoted the unnamed source as saying.
