Tochi Wigwe, eldest surviving daughter of late Access Bank boss Herbert Wigwe, has tied the knot traditionally with her partner, Wilson Aikhomu, in a private ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The ceremony, attended by family members and close friends, featured traditional marriage rites, including the payment of bride price, signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.

Videos and photographs from the event emerged on social media on Thursday, drawing congratulatory messages and goodwill wishes from friends and well-wishers.

Tochi Wigwe, who studied at New York University before obtaining a master’s degree from Imperial College London, previously worked as an analyst at Access Bank and interned at Coronation Merchant Bank.

She currently serves as a director at the HOW Foundation, established in honour of her late father.

Her husband, Aikhomu, is an investment professional based in Lagos. He is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty.

Aikhomu is the son of late Rear Admiral Joseph Aikhomu and nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.

He studied Finance at California State University, Northridge, and later obtained a qualification in Investments and Risk Finance from the University of Westminster.

Before assuming his current position, he worked with Leadway and RMB Stockbroking.

The wedding comes more than two years after Tochi suffered a devastating family tragedy that claimed the lives of her parents and elder brother.

Her father, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi, died on February 9, 2024, when a helicopter conveying them crashed near Nipton, California, in the United States.

The family was travelling from Palm Springs to Boulder City, Nevada, when the aircraft went down.

The crash also killed former Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members.

Wigwe, who was 57, was one of Nigeria’s most influential banking executives and served as Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings.

He was instrumental in the growth and expansion of Access Bank, transforming it into one of the country’s leading financial institutions.

His sudden death sent shockwaves across Nigeria’s banking, business and political communities, triggering an outpouring of tributes.
