Governor Nyesom Wike has equivocally labelled the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu and the party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and other members of the main opposition not in his G-5 camp as armed robbers.

Wike is the leader of G-5, aggrieved governors elected on the platform of the PDP indignant at Ayu’s refusal to vacate his office upon Atiku, a co-northerner, emerging as the party flag-bearer for regional balancing sake.

The belligerent, fiery chatty governor was in his element at Ogu Mini Stadium, venue of the Rivers State PDP campaign inauguration for Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area on Tuesday.

He did not only deny Ayu’s claim that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, a member of Wike’s group visited him after the recent fresh primary election in his State, he was his crude self to the point of describing Ayu and those in mainstream PDP as armed robbers.

His swear words, “Nobody can blackmail us. We’ll never go and meet anybody. We are who we are. This is not the first time we have battled. This battle we will win at the end of the day.

“We have gone to court against them. We are not running away from them, all our candidates went to court, our party went to court. I went to court too. We’ll stay here and we’ll battle it. We are not going to run away from anybody.

“Are we going to run away from armed robbers? It’s not possible. You can’t chase us away from the house we built. Rather, we’ll chase you out because you are used to running away.”
