A woman, Mrs Olufunmi Adeyemo, was detained for days with her one-year-old baby at Agbowa Police Station, Ikorodu, for stealing plantain at Agbowa Market in Ikorodu Local Government Area, Lagos State.

Report says Mrs. Adeyemo in her statement at the police station stated that she stole the plantain because she was hungry and had nothing to feed her baby
But respite came her way and that of her baby after the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, paid an unscheduled visit to the station.
It was said the CP got to know about Mrs. Adeyemo’s case when she saw her in a cell with her baby while inspecting the station’s cells, and ordered her immediate release.
It was gathered that the Owoseni gave the woman a cash gift of N10,000 after she signed an undertaking, promising never to steal again.
