Report that the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, turned back some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on a conciliatory mission to his Abuja residence has prompted his denial.
Atiku’s endeavour to become the president ended in vain for the sixth times.
The PDP presidential candidate polled a total of 6,984,520 to come second behind the president-elect and APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who recorded 8,794,726.
Tinubu’s declaration as winner by the Independent Electoral Commission is in dispute, with the PDP, the Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) alleging rigging and fighting it out.
Consequently, the APC constituted a committee to reach out to the aggrieved parties for reconciliation.
“The President-elect has set up committees to meet with the gentlemen who contested in the election for us to start the healing process. I belong to one of the committees. We are going to meet them and appeal to them so that we can work together,” Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu had said in a statement he released on Wednesday.
Report making the rounds that some APC governors went to Atiku on that grounds, but were denied entry to his house drew his denial at a press conference on Thursday.
“Well, I am really not aware of that. I was home all day today I was not aware of any governor coming to see me,” the former vice-president said.
