Amid the fierce political battle that surrounded the Osun State governorship election, billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats superstar Davido, has revealed the spiritual weapon he said gave him confidence when the contest appeared to be a battle of money and influence.

In an emotional video that has gone viral, Dr. Adeleke opened up on how he reacted after hearing allegations that some voters were being offered huge sums of money, including claims of N50,000 per vote, during the election.

Rather than panic or join the alleged spending race, the billionaire businessman said he withdrew into his private space, went on his knees and handed the matter over to God.

His message was clear: money could change hands, but only God could decide the final outcome.

“When I heard the kind of money they were spending, I went back to my little corner in my room, and I knelt down and prayed to God Almighty,” Adeleke said.

“I said: ‘God Almighty, let people collect their money, but let them still vote for Ademola Adeleke.’”

The businessman was speaking after the victory of his younger brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the Osun governorship election, where the governor defeated his rival, former Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.

Addressing Oyetola directly, Dr. Adeleke urged that the video be shown to the former governor, insisting that the victory was not achieved through wealth or political connections.

“Record me and play it to him. Let Oyetola hear,” he said.

“And let him know the reason why we defeated him.”

According to the elder Adeleke, the battle was not about who had more money to spend but about faith and divine intervention.

“The only reason why we defeated Oyetola is not that we are bigger or that we spent more money than him,” he said.

“On election day, we didn’t spend any money.”

He alleged that huge amounts of money were deployed by opponents during the election, claiming that “they spent N60 billion, as we heard” and that votes were allegedly bought for as high as N50,000 in some areas.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and no evidence was presented by Dr. Adeleke to substantiate the claims.

But beyond the political fireworks, the billionaire revealed the secret behind his calmness throughout the storm — his faith.

Dr. Adeleke said a particular Bible passage has remained his source of strength, pointing to Isaiah chapter 41, beginning from verse 10.

“When I kneel down to pray every day, I have some Bible passages and verses that I read and pray with,” he said.

“And this is part of my testimony.”

The passage, which contains the words “fear not, for I am with you,” according to Adeleke, is the reason he remained fearless despite the intense political battle.

“When I finish reading this, you know the reason why I’m not afraid of anything,” he said.

“You know the reason why I am not bothered about anything.

“Because I believe my belief in God Almighty is very strong.”

The businessman also explained why he rarely seeks political favours or runs after powerful personalities, saying he prefers to rely on God rather than human connections.

“That’s why you don’t see me running after people in high places or competing with people to go and visit anyone,” he said.

“I would rather do it in my little corner. I would rather ask God Almighty to help me.”

The revelation has added another dramatic twist to the Osun political saga, with Dr. Adeleke’s account turning the election battle into a story of faith, money, power and a family determined to retain its political stronghold in the state.
