Kwara OPC leader Bayo Fabiyi has been abducted alongside two other associates while delivering ransom for the release of a kidnap victim in Oko-Irese, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

The news of Fabiyi and the other ransom bearers’ abduction was broken by Punchng.

The latter in the report said the incident occurred on Sunday and has generated concerns arising from speculation that the victim for whose sake the three men embarked on the journey with N30m and other ransoms may have been killed.

“They were acting on instructions from the kidnappers. The team went with about N30m, five motorcycles, and three bags of rice because that was what was demanded for the victim’s release,” the publication quoted an unnamed source as saying.

Quoting the source further: “Instead of releasing the victim, the kidnappers seized those who came to deliver the ransom. Since then, nobody has heard from them.”

Recall that the Kwara OPC leader Bayo Fabiyi about five days raised concerns over worsening insecurity in Kwara South and called for greater collaboration between security agencies and local security groups.

“We understand the forests, the routes, and the patterns. If properly engaged, we can provide intelligence, local surveillance, and rapid response within communities,” he said then.
