The Yobe State Hisbah Board has shut down a planned “Colour Festival” in Damaturu, declaring the event unacceptable because it allegedly violated Islamic teachings.
The Damaturu Command said it foiled the planned celebration on Saturday as part of its mission to uphold morality, protect religious values and stop activities it considers contrary to Islam.
In a statement released on Monday by the command’s Media and Publicity Officer, Y. M. Abba, Hisbah vowed to keep a close watch on similar events and warned that anyone organising or supporting such gatherings could face legal consequences.
The board insisted it would continue enforcing its mandate to preserve Islamic values, maintain moral discipline and ensure peace across the state, stressing that it would not tolerate events it believes conflict with religious teachings.
