The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for two men wanted in connection with the alleged murder of a woman in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.
The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Folawiyo Alagbado and 33-year-old Ajibola Obateru, are believed to be linked to the killing and subsequent disappearance of the victim’s body.
The command declared the two men wanted in bulletins published on its official X handle on Wednesday, urging members of the public to provide information that could lead to their arrest.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly worked with other accomplices to attack the woman, kill her and remove her body from the scene to an unknown location.
The suspects are also accused of taking away the victim’s personal belongings before fleeing.
In its wanted notice for Alagbado, the police alleged that he conspired with others to attack the victim, resulting in her death, after which the group allegedly took her body to an undisclosed location.
The police further alleged that the victim’s belongings were stolen by Alagbado and his fleeing accomplices.
Alagbado, 32, is described by the police as a Yoruba man of average height, dark complexion, oval face, wide nose, long-wide mouth, medium lips and round chin. His last known address is in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The second suspect, Obateru, 33, is also said to be from the Yoruba ethnic group and was last known to reside in Ibadan.
He is described as being about 5.9ft tall, thinly built, with an oval face, long nose, small mouth, thin lips, black eyes, fair complexion and pointed chin. The police said he has thick black hair and generally appears gentle.
The development has added a fresh twist to the murder investigation, with the whereabouts of the victim’s body still unknown based on the details contained in the police wanted notices.
The police did not disclose the identity of the deceased or provide further details on the circumstances that led to the alleged attack.
It also did not state whether any other suspects had been arrested in connection with the case.
The command appealed to anyone who may know the whereabouts of either Alagbado or Obateru to immediately contact the police.
Members of the public can report useful information to the nearest police station or the Office of the Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Musiliu Smith Street, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
The police provided 08038843816 for information that could assist investigators in tracking down the suspects.
The command also warned members of the public against attempting to arrest or confront the wanted men themselves, urging anyone who spots them to alert the police instead.
The suspects remain wanted persons and have not been convicted of any offence. Their alleged involvement in the murder will have to be established through investigation and due process of law.
The case comes amid continued police efforts to track down suspects in serious violent crimes in Lagos, with investigators relying increasingly on information from members of the public to locate fleeing suspects.
