Former Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, has opened up on the heartbreaking plans she shared with her late husband, Adeniyi Adeosun, before his sudden death, revealing that the couple had decided it was time to slow down, travel and enjoy life together.

Adeosun made the emotional revelation on Thursday during the funeral service of her husband, who died on August 5 at the age of 62.

While paying tribute to her longtime partner, the former minister said the couple had spent years being financially responsible and had finally agreed to start enjoying the rewards of their sacrifices.

She disclosed that they had planned to embark on trips every three months and spend more quality time together.

“This year would have been 33 years of our wedding anniversary. We had a meeting, just the two of us, and we said now every three months, we’re just going to be travelling, we spend all the money,” Adeosun said.

According to her, the couple believed it was time to put aside their usual discipline and embrace a new phase of life filled with happiness and memorable experiences.

“We’ve been so sensible that it’s time for us to enjoy ourselves,” she added.

But the dream of a new beginning was cut short by the sudden passing of her husband, leaving Adeosun struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“I’m heartbroken. I’ve found it difficult to believe that this actually happened. But at the same time, I’m very thankful,” she said.

The former minister revealed that her husband was not suffering from any known illness before his death, saying he peacefully went to bed and never woke up.

She recalled seeing him after his death and said he had a smile on his face, describing his passing as the kind of departure she would wish for herself.

“On Friday, I went to the mortuary and when I saw him, he had the biggest smile on his face. He wasn’t sick. He simply went to sleep and didn’t wake up… that’s the way I’d like to go,” she said.

Adeosun expressed gratitude to God for the years they shared, their marriage, children and family, even as she mourned the loss of the man she described as her life partner.

Their planned adventures may never happen, but the former minister said she remains thankful for the love, memories and life they built together.
