A woman, Blessing Udoh, was on Monday brought before Yaba Magistrates Court in Lagos for allegedly supplying the Nigeria Police with false information on a murder case.
Udoh is accused of telling the police at the Satelite Divisional Headquarters and the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti that one Christopher Ibekwe murdered one Moses Chidi by pushing him into the river.
The account of the 21-year-old was purportedly found to be false, police prosecutor, Rita Momoh, told the court.
Momoh said the defendant committed the offence on November 3, 2022, in Agboju, adding that the offence contravened and is punishable under Sections 411 and 95 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Udoh, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, with Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun granting her bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum.
Olatunbosun adjourned the case till November 10, 2023, for mention.
